Christian Disney World Weekend

This past weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to celebrate Mother’s Day with a trip to the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter in Kentucky—and let me just say, it was so much more than just a fun family vacation.

If you’ve never been, I highly recommend going—especially with friends. So many of the exhibits are thought-provoking and ripe for deep discussion. I was amazed at how often dinosaurs were mentioned throughout the museum. One exhibit even told the story of a man who fought a dragon and went on to lead an entire village to Christ!

I also encountered some compelling arguments for a young earth perspective that I had never heard before. I’ve always leaned toward the idea that the “days” in Genesis were symbolic, but after this visit, I’m not so sure. It definitely sparked a desire to do more research and dig into Scripture even deeper.

One of the highlights for me was the section on Genesis—it was beautifully done and incredibly impactful. But my absolute favorite exhibit at the Creation Museum was the Fearfully and Wonderfully Made pro-life display. It was powerful and a must-see for anyone passionate about life.

After lunch, we headed to the Ark Encounter, which is about 35–40 minutes away. Fun fact: the ticket lady shared that the Creation Museum sits on 80 acres, while the Ark Encounter spans a whopping 800 acres! We had lunch at Emzara’s Buffet inside the Ark—surprisingly, the Brussels sprouts were a standout (I’m giving them a solid 4.5/5).

The most breathtaking part of the Ark Encounter? The full-sized replica of Noah’s Ark, built according to the exact biblical measurements. It was absolutely massive and awe-inspiring. They also set up displays to show how the Ark could have been organized and lived in at the time—so creative and well thought-out.

Also a note: we did both museums in one day and the Ark felt rushed. Next time (there will absolutely be a next time) I want to split them up and I would do the Ark first.

As we were leaving, I found myself thinking, this would make an amazing “Other Girls” group trip. And then, my mom said it out loud! What do you think—should we plan a girls’ trip here next year? Let me know if you'd be interested!
