Save the Senate: Why the Georgia Runoff is Important

Updated: Jan 5, 2021

Why the Georgia runoff is important?

On January 5, 2021 there will be an election runoff in Georgia for David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler.

During the general election in November none of the candidates got more 50% of the votes. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler are running again. Currently Republicans hold 50 seats in the Senate and the Democrats hold 48 seats. This runoff will determine who is in control of the Senate. The goal this election is for candidates to get more than 50% of the votes. If the Democrats win both of these seats they would have control of the House and the Senate as well as have a Democratic president in the office.

Republicans NEED to win this election. If we lose the Senate it will be easier for legislation to get passed. Our concern would be the policies that will voted on during this elections such as country wide mask mandates, re-entering the Paris Agreement and Iran- Nuclear deal, court packing, legalizing prostitution, and many other policies Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have discussed.

Some things to note in their differences are their beliefs on abortion, the 2nd amendment, climate change, LGBT+, and voting. There is a lot at stake. So what do we do? Number we should be praying. Not only for Perdue and Loeffler to win, but for God’s will to done. God knows what’s going to happen and we just have to trust Him. Second make sure you encourage all of your friends in Georgia to vote. The way to win is to vote.
